# Can I send RCS messages through the API?

Yes. You can send approved RCS templates from your own application with the [RCS API](https://www.smsgatewaycenter.com/developer-api/send-rcs-batch/). It uses the same templates and bots as the Send RCS screen.

## Where to find the API details

In your panel, go to **RCS > Documentation > RCS API**. There you'll find:

- **Send RCS API**: the endpoint for your account, headers, required and optional parameters, and sample responses.
- **Template RCS API**: details for working with templates programmatically.
- A **request builder**: choose your username, send method, bot, template, numbers and TTL, and it generates ready-to-use cURL and PHP samples.

## Key points

- Requests use **POST**. Authenticate with your user ID plus your **API key** in the request header.
- Two send methods: **quick** (a list of mobile numbers) and **bulkupload** (a recipients file, with the phone column named by the phone header field).
- The message is a JSON structure naming the **templateCode** (your approved template name), the **customParams** (variable values) and the **ttl**:

```
{
  "contentMessage": {
    "templateMessage": {
      "templateCode": "WELCOME_TEMPLATE",
      "customParams": "{"custom_var":"John","amount":"999"}"
    }
  },
  "ttl": "86400s"
}
```

- `customParams` is a JSON *string* (not a nested object) that maps each variable name to its value.
- You can add a campaign identifier and an optional schedule time.

API-sent messages appear in the same reports as panel sends, with the channel shown as **API**. Keep your API key secret and regenerate it if it is ever exposed.
