# Can I use my own phone number for sending SMS and WhatsApp messages?

For SMS, you can use your own number if supported by your [SMS gateway](https://www.smsgatewaycenter.com) setup, though we recommend using a dedicated sender ID for professionalism. For WhatsApp, you must use a number registered with the [WhatsApp Business API](https://www.smsgatewaycenter.com/whatsapp-business-api/), which cannot be a personal number already in use on WhatsApp. We can help you register a number for WhatsApp Business API use.
