# Can I Disable Message Encryption at Any Time?

Yes, you can disable message encryption, but you must submit a request to our **[SMSGatewayCenter](https://www.smsgatewaycenter.com)** support team to do so. Once **message encryption is disabled**, any new messages you **send will no longer be encrypted**. However, ***previously encrypted messages from the period when encryption was enabled cannot be automatically converted back to their unencrypted (plain text) form***. To access the content of those encrypted messages, you will **need to use your unique message encryption secret token to decrypt** them.

For guidance on decrypting and encrypting messages, you can refer to our [**code example here**](https://www.smsgatewaycenter.com/developer-api/sms-encrypt-decrypt-script/). To request the disabling of message encryption or for assistance with managing encrypted messages, please contact our support team at contact @ smsgatewaycenter.com.
