# How do I create an RCS template?

1. Go to **RCS > RCS Templates** and click **Add template**.
2. **Select a bot.** The form shows the bot's use case. Your template must be of the same type.
3. **Template Name / Code:** up to 20 characters, using only letters, numbers and underscores (no spaces or special characters). Name it after the use case, for example `BotNamePromotion` or `BotNameOTP`.
4. **Template Content Type:** Text Message, Rich Card Stand Alone, Rich Card Carousel or Media.
5. **Add your content:**
   - For text: type the message (up to 2,500 characters).
   - For a rich card: set orientation, media height and alignment, upload the image, video or PDF, then add the card title and description.
   - For a carousel: configure each card and click **Add more card** (up to 10).
   - For media: choose the message order (description at top or bottom), upload the file and add the body text.
6. Use **+ Add Var** to insert variables, the 😀 button for emoji, and the 🎨 button to apply Unicode text styles to selected text.
7. Under **Suggested Actions / Reply Buttons**, click **Add Suggestion** to add replies, URL, dialer, location or calendar buttons.
8. Check the **preview** on the right (switch between **Conversation** and **Business Info**), then click **Submit**.

The template starts as **Pending**. Use it for live sends only once its status is **Enabled**.

**Tip:** to create a similar template quickly, use the **Clone** action on an existing one.
