You whitelist CTAs on the DLT portal where your business is registered as a Principal Entity (PE): Jio, Airtel, Vi (VilPower), BSNL, Tata or SmartPing. Menu names differ between portals, but the process is the same.
Steps #
- Log in to your DLT portal with your Principal Entity account.
- Open the section for CTAs, URL/callback whitelisting or “Call to Action”.
- Add each item under its correct type:
- URL: static URLs, dynamic URLs or short URLs.
- OTT / APK: app download links and links that open apps, such as WhatsApp links.
- Number: mobile, landline or toll-free callback numbers.
- Submit, and wait until the portal shows the entry as approved or active.
- Link the CTA to the content templates that use it, where your portal asks for this.
Things that often go wrong #
- Short links: if you use a link shortener, including Smart Links, whitelist the short link’s domain, not only your website’s domain.
- A new domain or subdomain (for example, a campaign landing page on a new subdomain) needs its own entry.
- Changing your support number means whitelisting the new number before you send messages with it.
- Several portals: if you’re registered on more than one DLT portal, whitelist on each portal you send through.
After whitelisting #
Send a test message to your own number. If it still fails with CTA Mismatch, see How do I fix a “CTA Mismatch” failure?
Only whitelist links and numbers you control. When you whitelist, you confirm to the operators that they are not malicious.
