# How to Schedule SMS Messages

The **Schedule SMS** feature allows you to compose messages now and have them sent automatically at a specific date and time in the future. This is perfect for reminders, appointments, marketing campaigns, or any message that needs to be sent at a particular time. This guide covers scheduling SMS on both iOS and Android.

## Prerequisites

Before scheduling SMS, ensure you have:

- ✅ SMSGatewayCenter app installed and logged in
- ✅ Sufficient account balance (charged when message is sent, not when scheduled)
- ✅ Recipient phone number(s)
- ✅ Message content ready
- ✅ Desired send date and time

## Understanding Scheduled SMS

### How It Works

1. **Compose Now**: Write your message and set send time
2. **Save Schedule**: Message is saved and scheduled
3. **Automatic Send**: App sends message at scheduled time
4. **Delivery Reports**: Receive reports when message is actually sent

### Benefits of Scheduling

✅ Perfect Timing: Send messages at optimal times
✅ Time Zone Management: Schedule for recipient's local time
✅ Batch Preparation: Prepare messages in advance
✅ Automation: No need to remember to send manually
✅ Campaign Planning: Plan marketing campaigns ahead

## Step-by-Step: Scheduling SMS

### Step 1: Navigate to Schedule SMS

**Option A: From Quick SMS**

1. Open **Quick SMS** or **Send SMS** screen
2. Look for **"Schedule"** button or option
3. Tap to enable scheduling mode

**Option B: Dedicated Schedule Screen**

1. From main menu, tap **"Schedule SMS"** or **"Scheduled Messages"**
2. Tap **"New Schedule"** or **"+"** button
3. Schedule SMS screen opens

### Step 2: Enter Recipient

1. Tap the **"To"** or recipient field
2. Enter phone number in international format
   - ✅ Correct: +1234567890
   - ❌ Wrong: 1234567890
3. Or tap contact icon to select from contacts
4. **For Bulk Scheduling**: Add multiple recipients (if supported)

### Step 3: Compose Message

1. Tap the **message text area**
2. Type your message
3. **Character Counter**:
   - Shows characters used
   - Standard SMS: 160 characters
   - Long messages split automatically

**Tips**:

- Keep message clear and concise
- Include all necessary information

### Step 4: Set Schedule Date and Time

#### Date Selection

1. Tap **"Schedule Date"** or date picker

- Ensure time is correct for when you want message delivered
- Example: Schedule for 9 AM recipient's time, not your time

### Step 5: Review Schedule Details

- **Reminders**: 1-2 hours before event
- **Appointments**: Day before or morning of

**Avoid**:

- ❌ Late night (after 9 PM)

### 2. Time Zone Management

**Tips**:

- Know recipient's time zone
- Schedule for recipient's local time
- Use time zone converter if needed
- Test with one message first

### 3. Message Content

**For Scheduled Messages**:

- Include date/time reference if relevant
- Example: "Reminder: Meeting tomorrow at 2 PM"
- Avoid time-sensitive content that may become outdated
- Keep message timeless if scheduling far in advance

### 4. Testing

**Before Scheduling Important Messages**:

- Test with one recipient first
- Verify time zone is correct
- Confirm message sends at right time
- Check delivery reports

### 5. Monitoring

**After Scheduling**:

- Check scheduled list regularly
- Verify messages are still scheduled
- Monitor account balance
- Check delivery reports after send time

## Troubleshooting

### Scheduled Message Not Sent

**Problem**: Message didn't send at scheduled time.

**Possible Causes**:

1. **App Not Running**:
   - Some apps require app to be open
   - Solution: Keep app running or enable background refresh
2. **Device Offline**:
   - No internet at scheduled time
   - Solution: Ensure device has internet connection
3. **Low Balance**:
   - Insufficient balance at send time
   - Solution: Maintain sufficient balance
4. **App Updated/Reinstalled**:
   - Scheduled messages may be lost
   - Solution: Re-schedule important messages

**Prevention**:

- Keep app updated
- Maintain sufficient balance
- Enable background app refresh
- Test scheduling feature first

### Can't Schedule Far in Advance

**Problem**: App doesn't allow scheduling beyond certain date.

**Solutions**:

- Check app's scheduling limits (usually 30-90 days)
- Schedule in multiple steps if needed
- Use reminder to re-schedule if limit reached

### Wrong Time Zone

**Problem**: Message sent at wrong time due to time zone confusion.

**Solutions**:

- Verify device time zone settings
- Select recipient's time zone if option available
- Test with one message first
- Use time zone converter to verify

### Scheduled Message Disappeared

**Problem**: Scheduled message is no longer in list.

**Possible Causes**:

- App was updated/reinstalled
- Device storage issue
- App data cleared

**Solutions**:

- Check if message was already sent
- Re-schedule if needed
- Contact support if issue persists

## Cost and Billing

### When Are You Charged?

- **Scheduled Time**: You're charged when message is actually sent
- **Not When Scheduled**: No charge when you create the schedule
- **Cancellation**: No charge if cancelled before send time

### Balance Requirements

- Ensure sufficient balance at **scheduled send time**
- Low balance at send time = message fails
- Monitor balance before scheduled date
