Connect your Airtable account

In your SMS Gateway Center dashboard, go to Integrations > Airtable.

Click Connect Airtable, sign in, and approve the requested permissions.

2. Connect a table

Click Connect a Table.

Under Base, choose which Airtable base to use.

Under Table, choose which table within that base to use.

Under Mobile Number Field, choose the field that holds mobile numbers.

Optionally set a Status field — once set, the field gets updated automatically as each message’s delivery status resolves.

3. Set up SMS, WhatsApp, Voice and RCS automation

Toggle on any of Send SMS on new record, Send WhatsApp on new record, or Send RCS on new record, and configure each the same way as the other SMS Gateway Center integrations – Sender ID/template for SMS, an approved template for WhatsApp/RCS with variable-to-field mapping, voice library for automated voice call.

4. Log incoming replies (optional)

Toggle on Log incoming SMS, Log incoming WhatsApp, or Log incoming RCS to have replies appended as new records in the connected table automatically.

5. Save and review

Click Connect at the bottom of the modal. Your table now appears in your connections list with each channel shown as On or Off.

Testing your automation (important – read this before testing)

Automations only fire for genuinely new records – added with the “+” button, or imported/synced in from a CSV or another app. Typing data into a row that already existed before you connected the table (an old blank row, for example) will not trigger anything, since Airtable’s own record-creation time doesn’t change when you edit a cell.

To test, add a genuinely new record with a real mobile number, wait about a minute for the polling cycle, and check the number for the message plus your Recent Activity log for delivery status.

Troubleshooting

Message not sending after adding a record

Confirm the record is genuinely new – imports and the “+” add-row button both work, but editing a pre-existing blank row does not trigger a send.

Confirm the mobile number field is correctly mapped and the record has a value in it.

Confirm the relevant channel toggle is On and the connection is active.

Status field not updating

Confirm a Status field was set when connecting the table — status write-back is skipped if it’s left blank.

Incoming reply not appearing in Airtable

Confirm Log incoming [channel] is toggled on for that connection.
