RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the next generation of business messaging on Android phones. Instead of plain text, you can send branded messages with your logo and a verified sender name, rich cards with images, video or PDFs, swipeable carousels, and tappable buttons such as “Visit website”, “Call us” or “View location”. Messages arrive in the phone’s default messaging app (Google Messages), so recipients don’t need to install anything.
What you can do with RCS on SMS Gateway Center #
- My RCS Brands: create your company’s brand profile, used to register your RCS sender.
- RCS Bots: register your sender identity (the name, logo and colour recipients see) and pick carriers.
- RCS Templates: build text messages, rich cards and carousels with buttons and variables.
- Send RCS: send to typed numbers, saved contact groups, or uploaded files. You can send right away or schedule the campaign.
- RCS Capability Check: check in advance which numbers can receive RCS (where enabled on your account).
- Reports and Analytics: track submitted, delivered, read and clicked messages, plus replies from customers.
How it works #
- You create a Brand, then register a Bot under it. Once the bot is approved, it is your verified RCS sender.
- You create Templates for the bot. All RCS messages are sent from approved templates. Free-form text outside a template is not supported.
- You send a campaign. The platform delivers it to RCS-capable phones on the carriers your bot is launched on.
- Delivery, read and click events come back into your reports. Replies and button taps appear under RCS Bot Incoming.
Good to know #
- RCS reaches phones and networks that support it. If a recipient’s phone is not RCS-capable, the RCS message is not delivered to them.
- RCS must be enabled on your account. If you don’t see the RCS menu in your panel, contact support (or your reseller) to have it enabled.
- New to RCS? You can start with an RCS Sandbox Account to try templates and reports before registering your own brand.
